It could be. I'm sure it's Eastern European in origin, possibly Slavic, but I'd hate to commit to that position without more information.

For the US, Duchess returns in the next episode. I like Duchess and Terrence because they're funny, but it pains me to look at them.

It's not so much her appearance, but her VOICE that sends shivers down my spine! It's so raspy and mean...

(Actually I'd love to see her and Starlite from Rainbow Brite duke it out over whose the most "magnificent.") Dont' ask me where that thought came from. XD

I think Duchess is supposed to be ugly but I actually think she's kind of pretty. Well, she is supposed to be a work of high art, but I don't have a clue as to what that's supposed to mean. I don't find her attractive, but, as Duchess herself might remind me, beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I think she's kinda pretty too.

I don't know if "pretty" is the word I'd use, but then I wouldn't describe a Picasso painting as "pretty",either, and HE surely did not mean for his works to be thought of so frivolously!
Duchess is starting to grow on me, to become a much deeper character than simly a villain or antagonist. There's a back-story for her, probably one that isn't too pleasant, and I'm getting more and more curious to find out what it is. Given her inspiration, and her accent(which is VERY close to Romanian; we have four Romanian teachers who teach the "Special Ed" classes at our school, and one can be quite outspoken and acerbic, and reminds me of Duchess when she is), for some reason I can't help but feel that Hitler's troops were involved in there somewhere.

I think everyone can agree on that statement..... XD I would just like to say that I would not change Duchess' teeth for the world. They're pointed, not crooked. I've been trying to refrain from posting in this thread because I am a complete and total Duchess fangirl and I don't want to get into a sickening rant. I imagine she was created by royalty of some sort, or at least someone with a lot of money. For some reason I don't think she was always as demanding as she is now (though be no means was she ever nice). I think being abandoned, or whatever happened to her, probably stung her quite a bit. Sparky: Why most people think Duchess is ugly is a total mystery to me. From what I can tell, she's not really supposed to be beautiful, going by the reactions of Mac, Bloo, and Terrence to her appearance. But I find her much better looking than any of the imaginary friends, or humans, for that matter. See, I told you all I would go fangirl. Sorry. Okay, I'm going to stop now before I start babbling.

MY theory is that Duchess was created by the kid(probably a daughter)of a curator of an art museum, or perhaps someone who was an art collector. The kid would have been familiar with the "Cubist" style of painting that Picasso employed, for which he became most famous, and imagined Duchess to look like one of these expensive paintings.

Was she imagined to be that way? I don't think anyone would specifically imagine an imaginary friend (who are supposed to be companions) to be completley intolerable. Same with my theory about Bendy. I don't think he was imagined as a total trouble maker, that wouldn't be logical. No child would imagine a friend specifically to be annoying or "high maintainance". I think things that have happened to them made them this way. Keep in mind that I don't think Duchess was in any way a nice, polite being. I just don't think she was always as bad as she is now.

Her Royal Hiness, The First, last, And Only, Duchess. Long name.... but fancy. I personally think that Duchess was made by someone just like that girl in the second episode who wanted to adopt Bloo and name him "Tiffany". Duchess doesent deserve to be in a home as great as fosters. If it would help, I would adopt her to get her out of everyones face, spacifically Frankie's.
