Why isn't there a thread about our favourite ( ;D), snooty Imaginary Friend?
Btw who do you think she was created by?

I guess no one ever got around to starting one. I think her creator was probably older than usual and had highly artistic parents, but lacked any artistic talent himself. Duchess might have been created as a futile attempt to please his parents, or an undoubtably successful attempt to annoy them.

Or maybe by a rich and snobbish girl (not a boy, I'll give that for sure!), who in her posh palace was surrounded by Picassos?

If I ever get to it I reveal in my series of fics who created Duchess and I think it's a pretty good theory (not flawless or anything but oh well). Anyways I think Duchess is supposed to be ugly but I actually think she's kind of pretty. I like her colors. Part of the reason I named my snake Duchess is because I think she's so pretty and I like her markings.

I think Duchess is supposed to be ugly but I actually think she's kind of pretty. Well, she is supposed to be a work of high art, but I don't have a clue as to what that's supposed to mean. I don't find her attractive, but, as Duchess herself might remind me, beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

Eh...Colors are pretty...But I dun much care for facial---ness or personality. I do like that she's two-dementional, though. And I love her accent. I like any accent, in fact...Accents are fun.

Duchess is, well -- um, interesting. I don't know why I say this. Her appearance is definitely unique. Hopefully, we'll see Duchess again in future episodes.

Duchess fascinates me, totally and utterly. She's probably the most unique female character I've yet to encounter in an animated series, and her design is deliciously intricate. Plus, she's bloody fun to draw ^_^
I've puzzled over who created her, and here's an idea:
Somewhere in Europe (I'm thinking Belgium, Turkey or the Netherlands) a working mother works as curator of a fine art gallery and often has to bring her daughter/son with her to work during babysitter shortages. After spending so much time wandering round hallway after hallway of surreal and abstract works of art, listening to wealthy, upperclass customers barter over prices, and generally submerging his/her self in the stuffy, pretentious artistic atmosphere, the restless child's mind yields Duchess.
Several smashed artworks and as many insistences that she is the ONLY work of high art in existence (can we tell that is partially inspired by the "Simply Smashing" game on cartoonnetwork.com? ^_-), she fancies herself too good for her family's modest, middle-class lifestyle and callously turns her back on them in favour of a home with more finery in evidence.
After a long series of exhanges and being passed from family to family (taking her all across the continent), she finally finds no one left who is willing to keep her on. When she finally finds herself in Normandy, she happens to cross paths with a certain family who happen to know of Foster's Home For Imaginary Friends (the mother and father probably had their own friends when they were children). Out of charity, they put an ungrateful Duchess on a boat to America, and you know the rest.
As an added touch, the family in question includes the little girl who eventually creates Eurotrish. Thus, when they find they can't stand her any more, they've already had experience in disposing of obnoxious friends ^_^

That's pretty amazing. In fact, princefala, I can see someone taking your post and turning it into a full-length fanfic. Excellent job!

I didn't actually ever HATE Duchess, for some odd reason. She occasionally has some funny facial expressions and, I guess, she entertains me. I bet she and Ms. Princess Morebucks would get along well. Or scream at eachother over who is the best, it depends.

My friends (the ones who know Foster's, obviously) say I can imitate Duchess excellently.
"For I am a WORK OF AAART!"

Haha, excellent! Sure Duchess....whatever you say.. Well in Hungarian that's "Mert én egy műalkotás vagyok!" (now don't try pronouncing that! ;D) Btw I've read on a site Duchess is supposed to have a Hungarian accent. It doesn't seem so to me (I've got a couple of eps in English).

Her accent sounds familiar but I can't place it.

Her accent sounds familiar but I can't place it. I think it might be Romanian.
