Just to add my two cents, I don't think Terrence is ugly. He just needs to work in his personal hygene.

I wish I could see her face! Yeah, I wish they'd show her face, too, though from the back, with that current hairstyle(in "A Lost Claus")she resembles an adult, female version of Mac, so I guess his dad didn't kick in too much DNA there! Anyway, is it just MY personal take on this, or does it appear that from the time of the pilot, and "A Lost Claus" and "Duchess of Wails", that Mac's mom has put on a bit of weight? Stress will do that to a woman, let me tall ya! pitbulllady

She does seemed to have gained some weight since the pilot. I'm glad someone else noticed it, too.

Why does everyone assume Mac's mother works long, hard, days? I assume it as well, but I wonder why...
She seems intact in Duchess of Wails, and in House of Bloos she's certainly not abandoning her children... I don't know.

She seems intact in Duchess of Wails, and in House of Bloos she's certainly not abandoning her children... I don't know. She actually SAYS something to the effect of working very hard to provide the best for her kids in the pilot episode, and she definately gives that impression of someone who doesn't get to spend as much time with her kids as she'd like to, because of her job. I don't know where the notion of her "abandoning her children" came from, though. Given that in many episodes where they show Mac's apartment, like "Eddie Monster", for example, Mac's mom is not there, it can be reasonably established that she does have to spend a lot of time away from the home and at work. pitbulllady

I agree with PBL. My own mother is a single mom, and she works very long hours. Sometimes I don't see her at all during the day until very late at night. She still wants to spend time with me and my brother and does sacrifice any semblance of a personal life so she can spend every free moment she can with us. I think the same probably goes for Mac's Mom.

I don't doubt that mom works really hard. Even as it may be, I still do not like the character, mainly because of her forcing her younger son to get rid of something I believe is 'family' to him.

Heh, don't think that because I kinda-sorta sympathize with the character that I like her. Her decision to get rid of Bloo has nothing to do with how hard she works. It seems to me that she was just trying to cut corners as a parent.

Heh, don't think that because I kinda-sorta sympathize with the character that I like her. Her decision to get rid of Bloo has nothing to do with how hard she works. It seems to me that she was just trying to cut corners as a parent. While I DO have a problem with parents forcing a child to give up what his/her best friend, to some extent, I can sympathize with Mac's mom here. We all KNOW that Bloo, despite his size, can be a handful; he can be very mischievous and will get into things he's not supposed to, AND he has issues with authority figures. Even though he seemed rather quiet in the pilot, we can assume that he has, from time to time, exhibited the same behaviors that he normally shows on the series. I, for one, would have difficulty putting up with that on a day-to-day basis. Perhaps Mac's mom was really concerned that Bloo's behavior would start to rub off on Mac, or that his behavior was the catalyst for Mac and Terrence not getting along. Still, though, it is simply heartless and cruel to force a child(or anyone, for that matter)to simply abandon another living thing that they care about. In the case of this series, IF's ARE living things. There are strict laws in most places prohibiting anyone from simply throwing out or abandoning a dog or cat to its fate, so you'd think that the same would apply to beings who are for the most part much more sentient and more like us humans in terms of intellect, culture, language and emotional developement. To simply get rid of something because you are of a certain age, in order to avoid being ridiculed, is stupid. It reminds me of my mother telling me as I moved away from home for good to take up residence in another town that it was time for me to stop listening to rock and Heavy Metal music, because grown-ups didn't listen to stuff like that, and if people knew I still listened to the same bands that I liked when I was a high school kid, they'd have no respect for me! pitbulllady

I agree, especially since Mac obviously didn't *care* if he was ridiculed for having an IF, and I'm sure his mom knew that.
