What I wanna know is, WHY don't they ever show the woman's FACE? It can't be THAT bad! You can hear her voice and all, and they show TERRENCE'S face, so why not his and Mac's mom's face?

They never showed Ms. Bellum's face in The Powerpuff Girls, and for those that watched Muppet Babies, Nanny's face was never revealed.

Faces have been hidden in a lot of shows over the years. I wouldn't read too much into it; I think it's just something writers do to pique our curiosity.

Maybe because I've used her in a story, I feel I know more about Mac's mother than the show has established, I don't know. I think she wants her children to be *normal* instead of happy and thinks that by forcing Mac to relinquish Bloo, he'll gain real friends. She's apparently never seen Blakesuperior and Richie, nor has she looked around to find the other children with imaginary friends. Maybe she thinks imaginary friends are like pets...but I don't even want to touch the people who abandon pets.
It's hard to tell if she cares for Mac and Terrence or not. I would think she does...considering how often she works to support them, but there's no way to know for certain. As for her face, I'm not really that curious.

I write Mom in my fics too and I try to make her a real person. Though I have to admit I'm starting to wonder if the fic writers who make Mom gone at work like, 24 hours a day might have a point! Where was she when her kids were running around a junkyard in the dead of night?? It was nice to see her in Duchess of Wails though. And why the heck hasn't she gotten Terrence braces yet?? My god! Lol!

You all know how I feel about Mac's mom already, or at least you should. But she is not a good mom to me...first of all, she knows Terrance bullies Mac and seems to do little about it. Second, and her worst decision yet...she TOOK BLOO AWAY FROM MAC. No, no , and NO. Even after witnessing the kind of chaotic little bugger Bloo can be, he's still not nearly as bad as Terrance (or at least has not shown himself to be in the show) and he is very important to Mac. We all know that Mac created Bloo out of dire need...he didn't have a dad and he had a bullying (and very violent) brother making his life miserable. He just wanted a friend, so he made Bloo. And mom took that away. Mom, you need to get a frigging clue. LOL, I know, it's just a show, but I get attatched to characters when I like a show, and I don't understand the premise behind her decision at all..other then she just got tired of the whole thing and took an easy way out. (Regardless of how it might emotionally harm her little son.) Eeeek. Get me away from this thread. I can't stand talking about Mac's mom, but I just had to put my two overly-emotional cents in. ;D

You know what, I think Frankie would make a better mother than Mac's/Terrence's mom. Am I the only one that believes that?

You know what, I think Frankie would make a better mother than Mac's/Terrence's mom. Am I the only one that believes that? Not at all. Read a fanfic or two. Everyone seems to think that Mom should either go to jail or drive off a cliff, and Terrence should die of a drug overdose or go to juvenile hall, and Mac should go live at Foster's. Am *I* the only one who thinks that perhaps the show only paints a limited picture and maybe, just maybe, Mom really does love her kids and is there for them more than the cartoon shows us?

Could be, Sparky, could be. But for now...I have yet to see any reason to like Terrance or his mom. However, I'm not implying by my rant over her that she does not love her children. She does, but she's misguided on how to raise them, that's for sure. ~Ami~

There's probably a lot that goes on at Mac's house that we don't know about. Nor are we ever likely to know, as the show isn't focused there. I don't think Mac's mom is doing too bad a job of raising her kids. Mac seems to be pretty well-adjusted, and Terrence... well, I was a rotten kid at his age, but I grew out of it. I think he will, too, eventually.
The fact that kids are sometimes forced to give up their imaginary friends is very cruel and, as far as I'm concerned, just plain wrong. However, within the context of the show, we may be looking at what is simply a cultural norm. Look around the real world; there are plenty of truly bizarre and/or horrific cultural traditions out there. People practice them because that's what they were taught (indoctrinated?) to do in their youth. That doesn't make any of them right or acceptable, of course.
As for Frankie, I think she'd be a great mom! Yes, I'm very heavily biased here, but she's shown an enourmous capacity for caring and love throughout the series. Just watch "Imposter's Home" and see how she looks after everyone, even Goofball. It takes a special kind of lady to put up with a job that demanding.

the mother has no face because she is the archetypal dispenser of authority, as all small children see their parents before they realize that, yes, parents are people too(you'd be surprised at the number of kids that believe for years that their mother's and father's names are 'mom' and 'dad').
she exists to bring about order, whether said order is wanted or not, then vanishes back into the shadows of her job(when a parent is at work, a kid who's never seen the place has no idea where their parent is going off to)
have you ever asked an 8-year old what their parent's personalities are? most of the time, the answer you'll hear is 'always telling me what to do'. younger children need the most guidance, and will tend to focus on that more than any other character trait. imagine the world from the point of view of a child, and Foster's will tend to make more sense.
or maybe i'm talking out of my ass.
