The main human of the series. I understand his father is "gone". I missed the pilot, is he dead (which I what I'm guessing) or did he just walk out on them?

His dad: never mentioned. I doubt they plan to, unless they do an end-of-series movie, which would be awesome. But I suppose that's yet another discussion! Clearly, Mac is a complex character. He made friends with the folks at Foster's readily enough, but besides Bloo, they seem to possibly be his first real friends, as he we know he doesn't have any friends at school (though he may have adult friends elsewhere who could be shown later, I suppose). Kids really need friends in their own peer groups, and for him to not have any is both sad and a little troubling. Poor Mom, to have to worry about both her kids' social lives! (I suppose Terrence might have friends but I dunno, I kinda doubt it.) Although I don't agree with forcing your kid to give up any friend, "real" or not, I guess I can see why Mom did it - the mess at the apartment that day in House of Bloo's was just an excuse to drop the bomb she'd been waffling about dropping probably for a long time. Anyways, I think Mac does have some issues, poor kid. It's not actually shown that he doesn't ever play with other kids but, um, the way they laughed at him in Bye Bye Nerdy does suggest it. (And throwing spitwads? Well, we know where he learned that, lol, but at least it shows that perhaps he knows how to get revenge on other kids who pick on him. (Although it might not have been revenge. He may[i/] have just been being a jerk! OR, maybe he was throwing them at a girl he has a crush on? We don't know.)
I actually hadn't seen much of the show when I started writing my fics, and since writing them and seeing more episodes, the pilot namely, I've reshaped my perception of most of the characters - Mac especially. I thought he was a sweet innocent kid at first and all, but now I don't think he's so perfect anymore. He definately has a real mean streak to him - perhaps its not his fault and it developed out of self-defense, maybe, but its there all the same. Again: I write Terrence-centered fiction and I've kinda been forced to look at Mac through his brother's eyes and I really don't like what I see sometimes.
Um, I'm gonna shut up for a while and let other people bring up their own points, lol. I have a degree in creative, not analytical, writing, and I suck at these essay things. I'll come back to it.

Well, where should I begin? Well, a lot of the males that I know (mainly from TV.com) that watch this series seem to like Frankie the most as the human character. As for me, my choice is Mac. He's a close second, narrowly behind Bloo, overall. Mac is a very complexed character. Earlier in the series, he seemed like a really good boy often, though he did get into a bit of trouble. Lately, he's shown more of the daring and troubling side (kinda like what you see from Bloo). He's also moodier in the more recent episodes.
Mac is a great character. He can be a sweet kid, but he can also show his 'not-so-sweet' side. It's a shame that he was forced to give up his best friend, although in a way, it's awesome...since we get to see all of these imaginary friends.

Hmmm...does anyone else wonder what career Mac will take as an adult. Due to the fact that Mac has had to deal with Bloo (who's the trouble equivilant of 70 young troublemakers) I can picture him as a teacher.

I normally wouldn't want to give away anything from my fanfic but as I have no idea when I'm actually gonna do any more work on my series... I have him, later in life, taking on Mr. Herriman's job (not being his first career or anything). But not exactly handling it the same way, lol.

I love this little guy. Yeah he's definitely not perfect...but he IS sweet and he IS really smart. He's the one who made Bloo, so that makes him great as well ^_^ I can totally see where all of Mac's "bad" qualities come from, if you want to call them that. From Terrance, from not having a dad around..those are two major ones right there. But you see that deep inside Mac is really a rare and wonderful little kid.
But by gawd...please do NOT give this kid sugar! The poor thing couldn't handle too many more episodes of that! LOL!

Nothing wrong with that at all. I'm a male, too, and I had a bit of a crush on Jayce from "Wheeled Warriors" a long time ago. Has anyone here even heard of that show? I still miss it sometimes.

I feel gay, because even though I am male, I still have a cartoon crush on Mac. So? It's better than admiring and loving Wilt so much you wish he was real so you could swoop him into a huge smooch...oh crap, did I just say that out loud ;D ? Anyhow, nothing wrong with that, you probably just think he's kawii in that kiddish smart way. He is really kawii.

kawii= kawaii, I presume..? =)
Anyway, I love Mac, and what really clues me into his personality the most is his friendship with Bloo. I love how clever he is, and it really shows through Bloo and when they interact. Also, I really like their wordless communication, like when instead of saying stuff, they just hit each other, or walk away, etc. Truly Craig McKracken moments.
I think what's also cool about Mac and Bloo is that Bloo is such a simple design, but really what stands out is his boisterous personality. It's like a lot of what Mac is missing: the ability to be bold and unbridled, as well as rude and mischevous (although Mac sometimes gives in to the mischief as well). They balance each other out very well.

Yeah, they complement each other perfectly - in the 'Deo' episode when they're seperated, they just fall apart. Mac rules - Labloogirl put it really well, "a rare and wonderful little kid"
