Cello is such a beautiful instrument, that's really cool - how long have you been playing for? I know how you feel about orchestra...this is the first year I haven't been in the youth orchestra where I live cos I've been away at college during term..I was part of it for 4 years playing percussion (xylophone is a good choice by the way! and an even better reason for choosing it! haha) and I missed everyone from it so much - for some of the reasons you mentioned also! I didn't get into the orchestra in college....bah! Oh well, there's always next year I guess. Did you mean Particle Man by They Might Be Giants? (second time I've brought them up in this thread I think, sorry!) Oh, have you ever heard of a band called Apocalyptica? They're a cello-playing metal band (no joke at all...Distorted cello metal) and they recorded loads of Metallica covers - you should look them up!

I know what you mean - I had never played proper percussion instruments before when I joined. I was put standing behind two big timpani and a huge bass drum and given a sheet of music - had to learn pretty fast!! Four years, you must be pretty good - that's awesome! And what kind of music do you like?

I love a large variety of music because of my mom and sisters...I'd say my favorite would be Beck...I like Cake, Ben Folds, Beastie Boys (well I love um most of the time but sometimes obnoxious) Coldplay, Jack Johnson, John Mayer, Collective Soul, David Bowie(some), Dave Matthews, Some the doors, Fiona Apple, starting to love Franz Ferdinand, No Doubt, most maroon 5, modest mouse, prince, REM, red hot chili peppers (older), weezer but has to be older, U2, of course THEY MIGHT BE GIANTS, white stripes, zero 7, and lots of music played on grays anatomy...hahaha that's a lot

Excellent! Loads of different stuff there, just like me - and THEY MIGHT BE GIANTS are the best I've never listened to Beck, but I'm actually going to see him / them in August when Radiohead are playing here in Ireland - I'm soooo excited about that!! My favorites are Faith No More, They Might Be Giants (of course!), Frank Black (& The Catholics, if they're around), Mr. Bungle (officially the Best Band Ever in my book), Aphex Twin, Pixies, Decay, New Order, The Blues Brothers (also one of my favorite films!), Michael Jackson, Pink Floyd, Frank Zappa & The Mothers Of Invention, Brian Eno, The Stranglers, Warren Zevon, Fantomas, Tomahawk, Bal Sagoth, Daft Punk, Orb, Bob Marley, Nobuo Uematsu (computer game music...), Radiohead, Pagan's Mind, The Smiths, The Cure, Spinal Tap, Muse, Primus, System Of A Down, and Mike Got Spiked (a band from Dublin who are AMAZING, and coming to the states soon for a tour I've heard).... *phew* I listen to A LOT of music! And just this week three of my favorites - Mike Patton (he sings in about 4 of the bands above!), Frank Black, and Aphex Twin - released new albums over here....I'm gonna be broke!

I saw the Pixies twice - they came here during the reunion tour, it was heaven! And Frank Black (whose double album just cost me €20....) is the singer, he's released over 10 albums since the Pixies that nobody really cares about over here - except me, it seems! lol I'll take some pictures of Beck alright, why not! Must remember my camera... Michael rules alright! His songs are amazing, and as for the whole child thing...it's the opinion of the trial (and the people involved in it obviously know a lot more than the public and the media) that he's innocent - I'll accept that. Regardless, he made some great music! I love Billie Jean, and Thriller, and Leave Me Alone is cool too! Ooh, and Earth Song has to be the most over-the-top single EVER (but it works all the same!) Good luck to him trying to sell any new music now though.... Me? Cool? Why thank you I happen to feel the same way about you, due to your cello playing goo foster's TMBG-ness! Any friend of Goo's is a friend of mine ;D

I don't want to die...so many things to do! (see Radiohead, finish the new cd, visit Foster's..) I'll take some pictures of Beck for you and your friend if she promises to spare me, agreed? (PS - That Aladdin/organ combo sounds awesome!) Drakenea: That's cool, I could never figure out how people play those things - guess it takes actual talent! Oh well...how often have you been playing for?
