Anyone else like it? Probably not...we opera fans are a dying breed! My dad really got me hooked on it...and I've never gone back The stories are so emotional, the music is powerful, and the singing is AMAZING. I must admit though, it's much more fun to WATCH an opera than LISTEN to one. Opera's I've Seen (in person):Lucia Di Lammermoor La Traviata Barber of Seville Don Giovanni (twice!) Carmen Cavalleria Rusticana Pagliacci La Boheme Operas I've seen (on DVD):Turandot Aida Operas I've listened to (on CD):Madame Butterfly I loved every opera I've seen, but these ones are my faves -Lucia di Lammermoor (AMAZING music, touching yet heartbreaking love story)-Carmen (Terrific music, and a very passionate story!)-Don Giovanni (This one has it all...drama, romance, comedy, and wonderful music!)-Cavalleria Rusticana (Awesome music, but such a tragic story)The one thing that really annoys me about people is how they have this bizarre opera stereotype in their heads: Fat ladies dressed like Vikings. Okay, number 1: in most opera's I've seen, the leading female (and many leading males) have nice figures and attractive faces. Number 2: There was never an opera with ladies wearing horned helmets in it. NEVER. The closest thing to it was the Flight of the Valkyries scene in Wagner's Die Walkure...but they're not dressed in ridiculous Viking costumes. Okay, now that I have that off my chest... does anyone else enjoy opera?!?!

I enjoy some of the music, but I haven't gone to any actual operas in my lifetime.
As for the stereotypical view of Opera, I guess you can blame that on that old Bugs Bunny cartoon (You know, "Kill the wabbit, Kill the wabbit, kill the wabbit and so forth.)

I love opera. It's very emotional and melodramatic, and it just appeals to me.

I've never been to the opera, but I would welcome the experience. There's nothing in my area, though.

Don Giovanni, Aida and Magic Flute.
I have a lot of Greatest Opera Hits CDs, so there are quite a few obscure songs from various operas that I like. I just can't think of what they're called at the moment...

The only opera I've seen is La Boheme on DVD because I heard that it was what Rent was based off of and it sounded cool as I looked more into it. It was good, although I am glad that Rent didn't end with Mimi dying, because that part was sad. I liked the music, too. I do think, though, that my subtitles where a bit skrewed because I had the subtitles on and in one part, Mimi kept singing and singing, but, no subtitles were shown, so, I dun know what she said, since the thing is in Ittlain, and I dun know Ittlain. Oh well, the only ones to blame for that are the stupid DVD subtitle makers.

A lot of times, the singers repeat the same lines over and over, so they don't write subtitles...but they also could have gotten lazy...who knows? I love La Boheme! Very sad though *sniff*

My grandma and I listen to it... I love it. I don't know everything by name, but I love it. It's soothing. Bugs Bunny cracks me up, though. We learned about it in music, and I have to say it rocked... And I can play Mueseta (probably not spelled right... oh well)'s waltz on the piano from La Boheme... Yes, because of RENT. -Marty
