Hooray! I got congratulated. Bloo's just a blob, but he's so cute. Well, maybe not just a blob. He's got personality and attitude and humor and much more. He's the living personification of a security blanket. I'm holding to this and it was stated on two websites. I just wish Craig would either confirm or deny that ^_^

Uh, for those of you feeling brave enough to take a look over at fanart central, our dear friend Falconlobo has worked her crayon magic yet again, this time managing to somehow cross our beloved Bloo with Mr. Potato Head and giving him rabies in the process. Sad, really.

Bloo is easily my second favorite imaginary character (Wilt being the first), as, personally, I find Bloo to actually be a fairly complicated character. I'll readily admit I haven't read the entire thread, so excuse me if I repeat things I've said before.
While I'll readily admit that Bloo can be a jerk, I don't think he (usually) does any of his jerky things out of any sense of malice (the only real exception that comes to mind is World Wide Wabbit); it's that he either 1) honestly doesn't know any better or 2) thinks what he's doing is fully acceptable. At the same time, I believe there are moments where he believes he really is doing what he thinks is best for everyone in his own bizarre, self-serving little way. And, of course, it's impossible to deny that he's obviously insanely close to Mac, as any of the IFs probably are/were to their original creators. While he's not commonly AS openly affectionate as he was in the pilote, I really think that's just because he's settled into Foster's; he was almost certainly the way he was at the house as he now is at Foster's.
Off topic slightly, I'd usually probably compare Mac and Bloo's relationship to one of brothers, but the more I think about it, I think their relationship borders more upon a father/son one, with Mac attempting to correct the problems Bloo makes and teach him (at least to some degree), and Bloo usually being the more childish of the two. However, there are times where I'd admit that their relationship is similiar to a romantic one, though these are usually used for gags and this tends to lead me to dismiss them as basis for the Mac/Bloo pairing.
That being said, the most obvious traits Bloo has are bad ones, and to me that's actually what makes him so endearing. While these traits (arrogance, selfishness, ect.) would usually make me hate a character, the fact that they seem to be just........right for Bloo (I really can't find any other wording for this) somehow makes it tolerable for him, as well that, again, he usually DOESN'T mean anything bad by what he does.
So yeah, I like Bloo. ;D

Wonderful post, nathander! I completely agree! One of the most endearing thing about Bloo is his childish sense of boundless enthusiasm. Well, at least to me it is. That and he's so different from all other animated characters in his genre. That's why I feel such a big deal is made about him (both in a good and bad way). He's like a very watered down Cartman sometimes...minus the whole "evil" part. But regardless, he just is so original and fun. Totally deserving of that "Best Animated Character" award he won a while back. The award was given with this fantastic description...I wish I could remember it. Something along the lines of being, "Pure animation". I really should look for that. It was really gratifying for me as a Bloo fan before I found this forum. The little blob don't get no respect many other places.

Bloo won a "Best Animated Character" award? I didn't know that, but it's great to hear, as Foster's (and Bloo in particular) deserve recognition.
And now that you mention it, he really is like a watered down Cartman, especially minus the "evil" part (like I said, Bloo tends not to be mean to be malicious, while Cartman does).

The award was Italian. They started with a P, I believe.
Oh! And I think Foster's won the "Best Animated Series for All Ages" in the same award ceremony.

Bloo won a "Best Animated Character" award? I didn't know that, but it's great to hear, as Foster's (and Bloo in particular) deserve recognition. The award was from Italy's "Cartoons on the Bay festival", Bloo won the award for best new animated character at the last event, upon hearing that news, for a short time I referred to Bloo as Italy's number one cartoon character, "Carattere del fumetto di numero uno dell'Italia!" I would say. What great times those were.
