Terrence is great. I am most certainly not one of those people who hate him.
I think perhaps his bullying nature comes from the lack of a father. I've often speculated that he and Mac have different fathers, and that there was a divorce somewhere along the line, making him put up some walls.
Although, some of us are just born with a mean streak, too, and he definatley has one of those. He definatley takes pleasure in the less than pleasant.
I've seen it offically listed that he's 13, but he looks and sounds a lot older than that, to me. I would have pegged him to be around 16.

I'll agree 100% that most of Terrence's attitude, if not all of it, is due to the lack of a male role model in his life, and possibly remembering when his father left, or got killed, or whatever happened. I don't think that Terrence was born "mean", though. He is really a wuss when it comes to anybody outside of Mac, and is quite intimidated by other kids his own age, though he desparately wants to fit in with them. Take it from somebody who has been around a LOT of 13-year-old kids-Terrence acts and sounds VERY much like a 13-year-old boy. I've had more "Terrences" in my classrooms over a nearly 20-year career than I can possibly count. Some of 'em, believe it or not, actually wound up being decent people. One, who even LOOKED like Terrence, now owns one of the largest car dealership franchises in the two Carolinas, so don't write off Terrence just yet! pitbulllady

My cousin is a sort of Terrence...And he grew up without knowing his Dad. He's got A.D.D., too. He's horrible to his sister, and she hates him. He's 16 now... He's a jerk, and he hangs out with jerks(his step-brothers, mainly). He's only a jerk to his cousins and people he knows that are younger than him. He's pretty quiet around anyone else.

;Dit `ll be funny if terrance and mac met the girl versions of them I think it would be even funnier if Terrence got a crush on a girl who was the TOTAL opposite of him-preppy, high academic achiever, level-headed, not into violence and gore and things like that-and to see to what distances he'd go to try to make her notice him, and if that would include trying to alter his own behavior. pitbulllady

Terrence:
He's... I really can't describe it. The way he treats Mac makes him an easily hateable character, since Mac is the protagonist of the story, and it's very obvious that he's the antagonist. However, like many have said, he does have a bit of a deeper character. I've never been a Terrence groupie myself, but I don't hate him. Mostly because I respect Craig McCracken and ALL of his lovely, wonderful, fantabulous characters. But there are some other things, too.
Pure curiousity is another reason. He wants to conform, but something is holding him back; you can just tell. With the whole Imaginary Monster thingy-majigger... ah, insecurities. Aren't they a <insert colorful language here>?
Has anyone read the Outsiders? To me, he seems like a Greaser-type character. His slick hair, his choice of clothing, his attitude overall... just reminds me of a Greaser from that book (slash movie). Maybe that's what he is: a greaser. Maybe he doesn't bully because he's been bullied, maybe he bullies because that's how he's accepted. That's how his friends STAY his friends.

Maybe he doesn't bully because he's been bullied, maybe he bullies because that's how he's accepted. That's how his friends STAY his friends. That makes sense, based on the one episode ("Eddie Monster") where we met his so-called friends. Not a nice bunch; in real life they'd probably be staging dog fights. Does Terrence actually like these guys, or does he hang with them because no other group will accept him?

A little away from the usual topic: I just saw DOW, and could someone send in some screenshots of Terrence in Mr. Herriman's office?
Back to the topic: probably Terrence just wants to belong somewhere. Like Ed, Edd n Eddy, no wonder they had a "part" in Eddie Monster (though I haven't seen that episode yet)

I can't get myself to like Terrence, no matter how hard I try. But at least he's entertaining enough, like the time he got zapped silly by that electric IF. WA HA HA! XD

I go with the latter: Terrence just seemed to want to impress the guys, not talk to them, not listen to them, just impress them.

(And btw to all the doubting Thomases, it IS spelled Terr ence. It's official. I wish people would quit being so lazy and spell his name right!! Okay I'm done. ;D ) Same thing about Richie. His name is Wildabreath, not "Wildebrat". 99.99% of Foster's fans spell his name incorrectly, it seems I'm the only one who spells it right. If someone doesn't believe me, check the credits for Hiccy Burp. Terrence is one of my favorite characters since the show wouldn't be so funny without a mean character. Of course Duchess is there too, but I don't think that she is as good character as Terrence (at least she wasn't before "Duchess of Wails" where her character changed from just an enemy of the main characters to a friend who wants everything to be done the way she wants). I just think Terrence needs to appear in more episodes.
