As of now, pitbulllady has been promoted to Co-Administrator, meaning that we have no "moderators" (myself and PBL are, of course, equipped to handle all moderation duties). With our membership growing and myself finding it harder and harder to be online with any sort of regularity, I would like to start bringing on more staff members.
Co-Mods have a handful fewer "powers" than Mods, but the duties are basically the same: locking unruly topics, deleting innapropriate posts, the ability to see IP numbers so they can be jotted down before deleting suspicious posts, and moving threads that were placed in the wrong section. And of course enforcing the rules and basically trying to get people who are not behaving to do so. Basically policing threads so things don't get out of hand while I'm not around.
I have begun a new section at the very bottom of this board for Staff only, where the rules can be hammered out in a group setting, and where we can discuss improvements for the board as well as diplomatically deciding if people need to be disciplined for breaking rules. I've never been comfortable making those kinds of decisions alone.
I assume everyone does realise how downright *annoying* it is to be on the Staff of a busy forum - and we *are* growing, so it will only get *more* annoying. I don't need people who can commit to being here every single day (that's the point of having *more* Staff, so we can all relax a little!). I am however giving out positions that are capable of deleting posts, so I want to make sure these are people I can trust (and remember, as an admin I have access to the Security Log which enables me to see who did what when, so if something wonky happens, I'd probably catch any jokers abusing their powers).
Also, I need volunteers to be aware that we will most likely be moving from Proboards to another setup, probably in August or later (its for the best), which means my Staff will have to learn new software. It has to be easy enough for *me* to use it, so I don't expect that will be very hard.
Anyways right now I'd like to bring on one Moderator and perhaps one Co-Moderator - I don't feel that we need more than that at this time. (I'd like to wait until after we move to hire more folks if it's needed, since moving means everyone has to re-register and chances are slim that even 50% of our current memberbase will do that, so membership will be low for a while).
This isn't meant to be a popularity contest, so if you're more comfortable PMing me privately about this rather than posting here feel free to do so. Unlike the Graphics position there's no deadline; which means I can take as long as I darn well please to decide. I'll announce here whenever I select someone, and say so when I'm not considering anyone else; so until I do that, y'all may continue to tell me if you're interested.
