I was just curious. Even if nobody else believes in them but you, than they're real.Even if they're not real to others, if they're real to you, than they might as well be really real. Well atleast if you want it enough, for them to be real. It reminds me of a post I made on the IMDB about an experiment I was doing. I know one time I was desperate to know if my IF really existed. So I held out my arm and told him to tough it. Well you would never believe it, I thought I felt a SLIGHT tough on my hand. But then again, it couldi've been just my imagination. Nut then again, imaginary friends ARE you imagination, so mabe he did tough my hand. Hmmmmm.......I remember asking that question on the IMDB boards and pitbulllady answerd. She mentioned something about Tulpa. Of coarse of all things, my computer wouldin't search websites back then ,strangley enough only the IMDB boards. Anyway, I searched it on the library computer and I read what Tulpa was, like what pitbulllady described. Tulpa is something were when you use your imagination hard enough, with sheer will power, than they could actually create a visible being with your mind! This was done by this guy ,I forgot his name, but he imagined a monk, and it became visible. The only thing is, this monk was mean! Or something...But just look it up and see. Because of that, now i'm really beginning to believe imaginary friends DO exist. It takes some thought though.

Um. How do I say this gently. . .
Imaginary friends are not real.
They are born of imagination. Now, unless you have the power to create life from nothing (I'd be VERY impressed) then yes, Imaginary friends are real. But in the real world, no. Imaginary friends are only figments of people's imaginations, be them children or grown ups.

Imaginary friends are not real. Tulpa is irrational nonsense.

There's more to being real than being visible and solid. If you love something a lot, it's real whether you can see it or not. That's my personal belief anyway.

This is just my opinion: if they're *imaginary*, then no, they're not "real". But I believe in spirits, so if the being you thought was something you imagined, but is actually a spirit visiting you - then it's real. (Again, my opinion.)

anyone ever read the velveteen rabbit? the whole time this little stuffed bunny wanted to be real, and at the end he asks the fairy "wasn't i real before?" and she says "you were real to the boy, because he loved you" so i say if you honestly love your imaginary friend, why can't they be real to you? if you're spending time with them, why can't they be real to you? like toonwoman said.

Wilt, look! Someone needs help with something! Herriman, look! Someone's breaking the rules!
...
Okay, I hate to say this, but they're not physically real. But, I think they're real enough if they make you do things you wouldn't normally. Take for instance: Today, I didn't wanna go to Chimes practice. But, if I had complained about it, Herriman wouldn't approve. So I didn't. Or, if my sisters annoy me, Wilt wouldn't like it if I said or did something mean to them. So I don't. If they're totally NOT REAL. then why would my behaviors change like that?
I say, they're only as real in your head. But still, real enough. *leaves to make excuses to imaginary Wilt and Herriman why no one needed help or was in trouble*

Exactly. I mean, why can't imaginary friends be real? I'll never forget one time I had to go somewere and I was looking for my shoes. I looked high and low but couldin't find them ANYWERE, I even looked under the bed. My imaginary friend Wilt pointed at the bed and told me to look under there one more time. When I did, I found my shoes. That always seemed a little strange to me..........

Of course they're real. They're real IMAGINARY friends. So ... they don't have to be real... to be... real. They do not exist except in your imagination. So yes they are real... real...figments ... of...your imagination?
Ummm...

They can be real to YOU, but I suppose that, in the strictest sense of the word, they're not. But man, it'd be cool if they were real, physical beings like on Foster's!
