It's gonna be my first time going to school this year wich will be this month, Aug 22. Is there any pointers you guys wanna give me? I'll be going into 8th grade. I would have been going into 9th but I'm not ready for it as far as my grade skills, so it'll be 8th. I'm really exited about going, so if you guys wanna give me any pointers about anything, it'd be pretty helpful.

Study hard, be friendly but not overbearing, don't worry about being popular, avoid the troublemakers, be respectful of the faculty (at least when they can hear you), and never do this in class: *smashes potato with feet* WHERE'S YOU'RE POTATO WHEN YOU NEED IT!!!!! *jumps on chair*EVERYBODY GET ON THE FLOOR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! *whispers* I see dead people! *jumps up and down on the bed with a chainsaw* THERE ALL GONNA LAUGH AT YOU!AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!! *saws bed in half* Get r done! *jumps out window* MY CAT WENT UP INSIDE THE CYCLONE? They say you the one who done it! But they were wrong! *jumps up and down real fast like a jack hammer and talks real fast like Goo*MYDOCTERSAIDIWASJUSTFINEBUTHEWASWRONG!WROOOOOOOOOOOOOOONNNNNNNNNNNGGGGGG-I pooted. Otherwise, just be yourself. You'll do fine.

Besides study, try to get into a good university, and remember that a degree doesn't necessarily guarantee employment after graduation (my brother found that lesson out when he studied to be a pharmacist)......I don't really have any good pointers to give regarding school.

I'd like to go to college one day. I would love to be a cartoonist! Or, I doubt you'd HAVE to go to college to be a cartoonist right? But if not, college wouldin't hurt.

Basically everything that Cassini said. And if you do happen to find yourself in trouble, whether it's schoolwork or bullying, make sure you tell someone you trust and sort it out as soon as possible. Ignoring these problems doesn't work, trust me. Also, don't let me scare you. I hope I didn't just put you off. I hope you enjoy yourself there, I'm sure you'll be fine!^^

Why? What did you think you did to scare me?

I just didn't think you'd want to think about something like bullying on your first day.^^;

Oh don't worry, it didin't scare me. I've thought of everything, I think. About bullies, I wouldin't mind them. Like Dr. Suess said "Those who mind don't matter, and those who don't matter don't mind", or something like that...

That's cool, they won't bother you if you have that frame of mind anyway. I just wanted to warn you because I've been through a lot of nasty stuff. But now I'm fine with it.^^

That's nice Oh by the way, what should I pack for lunch? I know all about the whole PB&J deal, but is there any other kind of sandwich that I could pack? I was thinking about a PB & banana....

Well, if you can wrap it in a plastic baggie anything with lettuce in it is good. Just... dont use anything that makes stuff soggy. Like jelly. Becuase it comes out squishy. The other solution is to eat a big breakfast and skip lunch alltogether, which I've been doing since second grade. It prepares you for if you have missing lunch periods in high school but it's not really wise. Actually it you eat something healthy at schoool, that's good, because most of the stuff there is really kindof... well fried grease and sawdust, or as Dave Barry says, fruit roll-ups, which are some kind of deranged mutation involving flypaper and kool-aid. : )
EDIT: and also, if you ever eat yogurt, open it AWAY from you becuase it tends to explode through the first opening.

I'd definitely stay away from anything that drips, like ketchup. My favorite was always the basic ham and cheese with lettuce and a little mayo.

To you and me both. Dinner here tonight was steamed mixed vegetables. I would feed my neighbor to the wolverines for a steak. Can't offer you much more advise on school, but I'm sure you'll do fine. You won't be the only one there with first-day jitters; maybe y'all can help each other relax. Strength in numbers, that sort of thing.
