The lady who started it all. Has her age ever been stated? I once read in a fanfic that she was 90 years old, but I'm guessing that was specualtion. I also think that Foster is her maiden name and that she adopted Frankie's mother/father. Mostly because I can see her doing something unconventional (for her time period) like that.

I've often wondered why she decided to open her home to lost imaginary friends, and when did she do so? Plus, what was she thinking when she created Mr. Herriman? Maybe she lost her father at a young age and dreamed up Mr. H. as a substitute.

Mmm, interesting theory about Herriman's creation. I have no idea how old Madame Foster is, lamentably, but I think Frankie's father is her son. That's why she still has the family name.
There seem to be parental issues abound in Foster's, aren't there?
As for opening her home, maybe she thought there'd be more friends to care for and be around. I think she's very motherly in her own way and being around them made her happy. Not to mention it'd shake Herriman up a bit and that'd amuse her.

I've always wondered about Madame Foster being Frankie's grandma. I'm sorry, but I just can't imagine her having a husband or even a boyfriend. Also, I can only dream about what Harriman would be like with the Madame being married...

I think she's 80. I made a little count and that just sounded believable.
As for her being married... well, maybe years ago she looked somewhat similar to Frankie, why not then?

I mean with her personality. I can't see her married is all...

I doubt that Madam Foster's personality today is the same as it was 50-60 years ago, although she was probably a bit eccentric even then. She's seen some trama in the intervening years, including the (presumed) loss of her son, she's been surrounded by IF's for some time, and that rabbit's been driving her nuts for over 70 years. And at her age, senility and memory loss start to take their toll. She's a sweet and lovable old gal, to be sure, but probably not the same woman who lived during World War 2.

Mm. Good point there, Cassini. But still...I can't make my miniscule mind imagine it. Eh.

Wouldn't it be weird if we find out in the last season or something that Frankie is actually an Imaginary Friend as well? Someone Mme. Foster dreamed up because she wanted a granddaughter so badly? And because she needed an extra hand at the house?
After all, Herriman is kind of filling the "father figure" role for Mrs. Foster, and has been for many years. Herriman knows he's imaginary... but what if it's possible to create an Imaginary Friend who doesn't know she's imaginary? What if it were a surprise to Frankie as well? What a mindbender that would be.

Whoa! Stop right there! That's mind-blowing stuff alright.......imagine that! Would lend a whole new dimension to 'Foster's Home For Um. Make-Em-Up Pals'!

Nu, she's not imaginary. In "The Trouble with Scribbles" you get to see her as a little girl. Imaginary friends' appearances do not change(well, at least I don't think) with age. That's a good thought though.

Also, I can only dream about what Harriman would be like with the Madame being married... Well actually, and this is a bit of a stretch. During the opening credits sequence, in one of the shots, (I believe it's the part of the credits when everyone runs by Herriman.) for a little more then half a second in the background you can sort of make out a picture of a distinguished looking older gentleman. I always thought that was M. Fosters significant other. (And in one of those almost too weird to be true moments, when writing this post, my Windows Media Player randomly selected James L. Venable's "The Love Theme From: Foster's Home For Imaginary Friends"

Is that a different song than the main theme? If so, I'd love a copy!

I'll have to go check it out tonight when Cuckoo for Coco Cards comes on. -a note- Wow, I'm a Foster's Legend now too! =O I didn't even notice! SWEET!
