What, you mean someone ACTUALLY gave it a shot? I'm thinking about totally boycotting fanfiction! Yes, someone actually put one up this morning sometimes, AND it has gotten a review. I have not, and WILL not, read the fic, but I did check out the review, just to see what others think of it. I can't decide if the reviewer is being very sarcastic by saying the opposite of what they think, or if they really, seriously do like this garbage, since they suggest numerous other "pairings" that the author should try, like "Blobby Thing(whoever THAT is) x Terrence", and "Frankie x Coco", and end with "the possibilities are endless". pitbulllady I think they might have been saying so sarcastically. I don't think ANYONE would want to try those pairings. No matter how you look at it, both of the pairings suggested just don't make any sense at all. Well, now that I think of it, neither does the TerrencexMac pairing, so they very well could have been serious.

My problem with the fanfiction on ff.net is that everyone is always trying to insert themselves into the story by coming to Foster's to adopt Wilt. It annoys the HECK out of me. It takes forever to weed through the good fics and the bad fics. Hardly anyone is in character. Particularly Bloo, who, like Jack Sparrow in the Pirates of the Caribbean, has a distinct personality, and if out of character, can ruin the whole story. Goo is often OOC, too. She's always happy-go-lucky, and that's who her character is. That's why, in a story I wrote (although, I'm not saying it's good- I'm just using it as an example), I did have her be her light-hearted self. But then, as the conflict of the story unfolds (it's called Wishing Only Wounds the Heart by the way, and it's a co-authored fic with Dude13), a single event makes the audience see how she would react if all of a sudden something went wrong. Once again, I'm not saying I can write. 'Cause I don't think I can. But it's an example. Dark fics are good, occasionally. But as I've said before, it would be nice if they were somewhat canon. I'm starting to think that most fics on ff.net should be branded with a big 'AU' for alternate universe. And (I forget who posted it, sorry), to the person who said that the people writing the dark fics are just teens going through a goth phase, it's not completely true. I don't mean to offend anyone, but it's just not true. Dark fics are prominent in Blue's Clues fics (ha!) where everyone makes fun of the show. In our fandom, it is not so. I'm not saying I like all of those fics with demons and stuff, but you have to respect that it's their take on the show, however disturbing you may find it. If you don't like it (this isn't to anyone in particular), then don't read it. Same goes with slash, in my opinion. I used to hate slash- LOATHE it. But then I entered the Newsies fandom, where all the characters are guys. I got used to it, but I still don't LOVE it. I TOLERATE it. I think Mac/Bloo's kind of cute, along with a few other uncommon pairings. I do not think it is right to attack those who write it, though. I hope I did not offend anyone in this post, but opinions are opinions, and since this is a forum, I like to share mine. This post was not meant to attack anyone at all. And I hope everyone understood my rant, because if I re-read it, I probably wouldn't understand a word of it. -Marty

While I'm thrilled that there is another Newsies fan on these boards. I must disagree with you one Newsies slash. I can't even get up to the "tolerate" marker. And I hate Mary Sues, so it literally takes me weeks to find a fic worth reading on ff.net. Although I heartily suggest Arlene2, if you're a fan of gen. She's the best! I just checked you out on ff.net and saw that Racetrack's your favorite newsie too!! Sweet!

Btw, Wendy's my best friend in real life. I'll have something to say to her, for she emailed me like "Wow, I wrote a cute Foster's fic!"

I made a thread about this very subject.
When I wrote a dark version of the show, it was meant to be like Peter Griffin's version of Chuck E Cheeses - the fact that it was dark and based on something light-hearted meant twisted humour was derived from it.
